Jaws Kamath, the founder of the Kumaoni Farm Café was a passionate foodie, outstanding Chef and an avid explorer of food who travelled all over Kumaon to bring in curated authentic Kumaoni food. We lost him to a mishap however his legacy continues with Friends of Jaws making sure that the Café that he dearly loved is managed with the same passion.
Apart from the delicious food, we always strive to make our guests' experience special. Therefore, we always make clear disclosure about the 400mt hill path that you need to negotiate to reach up to the Cafe. In the Gallery section you will images that clearly indicate the terrain. So, when you make your reservation for your KFC experience, please bear in mind the hike - which also is part of the experience.
Continuing with our efforts to plant and propagate mostly mixed varieties, this year we did Mulberry ( Shehtoot/Kimua), Himalayan Cedar (Deodar), Morpankhi ( from the Cypress family), Black Bamboo, Sandalwood, etc. The count of trees now at the farm is more than 2000 and hopefully, within the next couple of years our endeavor of creating a green canopy on this part of the hill above Mehragaon, which otherwise had become completely barren, should be achieved.
Despite the lockdown, the Kumaoni Farm Cafe (KFC) continues its passion for growing fresh and organically grown seasonal veggies. Here we have a whole load of greens - the fav pahaari "Oogal" - Buckwheat Greens, Lettuce, Spinach, Red Cabbage, Broccoli.
Farm to Table in Lockdown times!
The Kumaoni Thali is amazing and since it's located on a hilltop, the views are breathtaking! It is recommended to take an SUV as the road is steep but there are parking points from where one can walk 200 to 500 m.
Any visit to Bhimtal must include a lunch at this unique cafe managed on behalf of the owners by Kamlesh who is extremely proactive and leaves no stone unturned. The walk up adds to the charm, the views are just spectacular,
the food is delightful and the entire ambience makes it an unforgettable experience.
Mr Kamath, who has had an untimely death seems to be missed by all in the team, which goes to show how he has made them a part
of the family.
Thank you to the team and to Mrs Kamath for adjusting us last minute and the delightful experience.
The best kumaoni food you will taste ever with a breathtaking view ❤️ Kumaoni raita , bhaag ki chutney , kheer , veg kebab. Each and every item was max yummy . Kudos to Jaws and the ppl for the place and their warm hospitality.
Want an escape from the chaos? Don't forget to visit this pristine Kumaoni cafe, that serves you straight from the heart ! The hospitality ,the ambience was picturesque!
Do make a visit.
Being hosted by the person who runs it with love and passion was itself a treat. I have never had this delicious cuisine and it just jumped to the top of my favorites. Thanks Jaws for hosting us. The passion you share for
food and cooking makes it even more tempting.
Traveling to Sattal for me will never be complete without Jaws Stories. Do make a visit.
KFC. What an amazing experience. Its a must do in Bhimtal/ Sattal.
The Food is delicious cooked in chulha. It's authentic Kumaoni pahadi thali. Everything on the thali is carefully curated and deliciously made. They
mostly grow their own produce, so its a true Farm to Folk experience.
To top it all, the entire team(along with the cute dogs) treat and attend you with too much love and warmth.
The views are exceptional, the
design of the cafe insane.
Thank you Jaws!
Organic, freshly cooked Kumaoni food prepared by using simple kumaoni spices everything is grown at the farm. If you want to taste authentic kumaoni food with farm fresh ingredients this is the place. Food is served with love & to your hearts content. To experience the charm of this farm cafe with gorgeous views of Bhimtal, the little trek to get there is so worth it (adds to the experience). Once you are there, you would not want to leave! Remember to book in advance and reserve your experience.
There are many reasons I go to KFC again and again. Firstly I go there for amazing food. Only place I know where get truly authentic and delicious Kumaoni food. Secondly, it is a pleasure to spend time with Jaws, kamal,
and his family, who work there, children and two lovely dogs. Thirdly, view from KFC is an element of pleasure in itself...
My big problem with KFC is that they only serve Lunch (and not more then 12 people) Dinners
are only on request... Hey, KFC team please consider opening for dinner too..I want to look at Bhimtal in evening light, and enjoy my dinner.
